This was suppose to be a 3/4" hold down. It measures about 9/16" and does not fit properly in the holes in my work bench. Quality of what appears to be a casting is very poor and likely would break after a few hammer blows. This was billed as a quality item to fit a 3/4" bench hole-----------far from it. Extremely disappointed and will be returning for refund. I feel ripped off having to shell out for shipping fees after being duped by false advertising.

Just had to rough up the paint on the shaft with sandpaper. It bites nearly every time I hit it in a 3/4 hole drilled through 3 inch thick bench.

Diameter not 5/8 inch as others have stated - rather they are roughly .040" larger, depending on whether measured across the parting line or at 90 degrees to that line. I drilled out the holes in my Harbor Freight bench to 11/16 inch and they work OK after filing off the parting line casting flash.

OK, I get it. Now. "6pack" has nothing to do with my purchasing six bench dogs. Perhaps that is some kind of brand-name that "Peachtree Woodworing" uses. You're right, why would anyone but the most gullible suppose that this Jorgensen piece of metal could sell for two-dollars each? (Now made in China?) My Jorgensen table has 3/4 inch holes. The # 1708 Jorgensen bench dogs are 1/2 inch in diameter. No amount of pounding makes them super-tight in a 3/4 inch hole. I can release the stock by hand, no need for mallet. Rockler sells their brand for a buck more (yes, for one, so you can understand my eagerness to buy six for twelve bucks). That bench dog is 11/16 inches in diameter -- somewhat larger than the 8/16 I purchased. I imagine the larger diameter dog holds tighter than the smaller dog. Given that we rate a tool by how well the tool performs its function, a 1/2 inch bench dog matters in a 3/4 inch hole. (BTW: I destroyed one of my two plastic cam-clamp bench dogs by using it as a stop and hold-down. I was gluing a small round table top with jig and pipe clamps. The "stop" function was fatal. That got me interested in the metal traditional type.) As metal goes, my one Jorgensen is lovely. (Maybe I'll use it as a paper-weight.) Minus five stars for "6pack" advertising. Plus four on the gullibility factor. Plus five stars for looks. Minus three for diameter. My one bench dog gets a one.

THEY would not hold. I have a 3 1/2 inch thick table with 3/4" hole. They would not hold. So I finally put a caliper on em and they are 5/8" . To later to return live and learn.
