Before having this kit, I was using a scissors like adapter for puncturing R-134a refrigerant cans to charge AC system. The problem is that if you didn't use the whole can, any leftover will leak out. With this kit, the seal is perfect and any partially used can will remain sealed for a later use. This is a must have for anyone dealing with AC systems, specially in cars.

If you DIY your own Car A/C work, these can valves are a great choice. Easier to use and sturdier as well. With the new sealable R134a cans, you need the rounded tip type, and the old cans need the piercing type. This kit gives you both at a great price.

These can taps are well made, I have only used the piercing tap, but it works great. Comes with a valve core tool and an adapter for 1/2 ACME hose end. The adapter didn't have a schrader valve in it, but it is threaded for one. Overall these are good quality can taps!
I've been using the old skool clamp on valves for years, but they always leak the unused Freon out if you let them sit no matter how tight you get it. This one holds the gas in when not being used. I used a leak detector to see how well it seals and no leaks. It includes both puncture and valve units. This one is a keeper and has a nice hefty build so I'm not thinking it will wear out soon. Great little tool.
I have an older piercing type can tap and I bought one of those blue plastic adapters for the newer style self sealing cans. Honestly, I don't know why I wasted my time. For the cost, this set provides everything that you need, and these taps are high quality and should last you forever. It comes with both types of taps (which is nice because I have both types of cans - long story). It comes with a schrader valve core removal tool which is handy for tightening valve cores. The tap for the self-sealing cans is clearly labeled with arrows, which comes in handy (because it's opposite of what you're accustomed to with the old-style taps. I used to buy 134a in 30 lb. tanks, but it's become extremely expensive ($330 for one locally). I have had a fair amount of luck finding the 12 oz cans for cheap at garage sales and flea markets (bought a whole case of 12 for $6.00 this fall!) These can taps work perfect for the 12-ounce cans! I've had a tap on each a re-seal and a punture can for over a week now, and both cans are still full. No leaks whatsoever. The taps seem to be of high quality and the aluminum valve knobs speak to that. Included is a valve core tool (name brand FA #59302 is $22 locally, and this one is just as good), and a tank-hose adapter) I have plenty of both, but to add them is a nice bonus! I've used them with no issues with my standard residential YJ gauge set. I'm going to pick up a couple more so I can have backups in the truck, at the house and at the shop. Great value for the price!
I purchased a kit for refilling the system but the valve that was supplied never worked and always leaked more refrigerant than we could use. These valves are aluminum and brass, have very good threads so connections are secured properly and the valves work positively in both open and closed positions, with no leakage. The valve tool does fit both types/sizes properly and has a good feel to it when using it. Highly recommended.
