They are a value because they start with the very best fresh chives, dry them according to a protocol which produces the very best dried chive obtainable. I say this as a former restaurant owner and lifetime user of McCormick's top grade of chive. These chives seem to be identical to the canned McCormick's Armanino Farms from some years ago. Compare the chives to any others and you will see how most of the other chives are a pale, dried out looking tired old chive, while the McCormick's is a smooth, vibrant green. And the Culinary chives taste of fresh chive, not grass!

Not that it effects the flavor, but the chives in this package are finer and less 'loop-shaped' than chives generally are in other products I've used. If you're just using this product to add flavor--then it's great. But I've always used dried, chopped chives to add to soups, sauces, etc., to also add to the presentation.

Green onions have long, slender, green stalks that end in small, white onion bulbs. Chives on the other hand, although part of the bulbous onion family have inconspicuous bulbs. The bulbs are so tiny that they almost pass off as non-existent. Their green stalks are long, tender, and hollow, and resemble grass blades. THIS IS ONE POUND OF CHIVES, NOT A MIX WITH GREEN ONIONS!!!

If you love chives this is a good buy. The ones I get in the grocery store are .16 (tiny amt.)and cost almost 4.00. I use chives daily so I don’t worry about this big lot going stale.
I usually buy dried chives in the supermarket, but recently haven't been able to find any at all. I bought this and this was the best deal ever. I love a lot of chives on my baked potatoes and this serves me well. I definitely have to buy it again. Definitely buy this if you like chives. You get a good amount compared to those little jars sold in the stores, and can't find anywhere now.
