The Lisle 39660 metal tool not only did not work to release the transmission lines from the radiator and transmission cooler on my 2006 F150, the tool also cost me over $300.00 in parts. I cut the lines at the radiator and the cooler because the tool would not work. When trying to remove the quick connect fittings from the Transmission cooler the cooler wall cracked because it was light gauge aluminum so I had to purchase a new one. After searching every parts supplier and Ford dealer in the area as well as online searches I found that new fittings are only available with a new radiator so although my radiator was fine I purchased a new radiator because the lines would not come out of the fittings with the Lisle tool. When I unpacked the new radiator, I noticed there was a small plastic tool for the lines attached to the radiator. It snapped around the line and did not have much of a flange to push the tool into the fittings so I thought it would not work either. Just to see I tried to insert the plastic tool into the fitting and within minutes the line came out of the fitting, I then tried the other three fittings with the same results, if I would have had the little plastic tool it would have saved me from buying the trans cooler and the radiator. I got drawn in to thinking stronger metal would be better than plastic but I am thinking the wall thickness of the metal tool actually wedges the line tighter into the fittings not letting the lines pull out, the thinner plastic tool releases the catch part of the fitting without jamming the line tighter. I tried with the metal tool for a couple weeks and the folks at the parts suppliers did as well with when I went in with the tool and the fittings and no one had any luck with it.
