Switched to this hitch (Have the B&W undermount turnover ball mount) after using a gooseneck adapter on 5th Wheel for many years. That gooseneck adapter caused the stock Pinbox to eventually fail by bending the base plate/kingpin forward, and ripping the weld seam off the back. Luckily I noticed it prior to complete failure. This 5th Wheel works perfectly with my underbed ball, and moves the fulcrum point up to the kingpin, so less leverage on the new pinbox. It is quite heavy and bulky to move in and out of the bed, but is high quality and easy to use.

Update: This hitch saved my life today! Was getting towed out of a ditch up hill (400ft). Half way up, the heavy recovery truck's chain slipped and me and my 17100lbs of 45' toy hauler slide !VERY fast! down the hill and ran into a tree that stopped the trailler !solid! The king pin sheared right off the tow tounge but the pin stayed in the hitch. The hitch held all the force of the F350 dully and it absorbed the shock of the truck which continued to run into the front of the trailer. My gooseneck in the bed is a bit bent forward and the feet of the hitch put deep dents in the bed but it never let go! If this hitch was not built tough, I think the trailer would have went through the back window of the F350! Thank you B&W! Heavy as %#*$ but top quality! Everything about this hitch is great. I have a B W gooseneck hitch in the truck an use this to pull my 17k 45ft 5th wheel and love how easy it is to both auto latch the pin and CLEARLY see that it is latched or not. Handles are smooth and easy to operate. Update: now using the hitch for almost a year on a 17,100 rig 45' 5th wheel and still think this hitch is AWESOME. never had a false hitch and clearly can see if it's fully coupled. Now opinion is I will ALWAYS choose a BW hitch. Solid quality!

We recently upgraded from a bumper pull camper to a fifth wheel. I had a B&W turn over ball already in the truck. We first went with a fifth wheel to gooseneck adaptor. It worked well but you could still hear and feel a little play since we were hooked up to a ball. We plan a couple long trips each year and planned to start pulling the boat behind the camper. I was a little reluctant to spend the extra money to upgrade. I bit the bullet and ordered this hitch for peace of mind. It was a great decision. It took a little while to assemble because I wasn't sure what height setting I needed. After getting it all set up, this is the easiest hitch to hook up and it pulls great. No more rattle from being hooked up to a gooseneck ball. When it comes to latching the King Pin, there is no question about it being hooked correctly. The handle falls into place, you put in the safety pin and its ready to roll. It's a little heavy to put in and take out of the bed of the truck but I would recommend this to anyone pulling a fifth wheel. Great purchase.

This hitch fit perfectly. I do recommend watching the you tube video a couple of times before trying to install. Good information on the difficult parts. The gooseneck and companion hitch took only 3 hours including cleaning up thre tools. Most difficult part was drilling through the crossmember for the safety chain connecters. VERY WELL BUILT. Have some help. The hitch is very heavy.
I installed my new B&W Companion 5th Wheel Hitch RVK3500 last week. Although it is very heavy, and will take two persons each time I remove it or set it in place, that inconvenience is worth what appears to be an incredibly solid, well-built hitch. I plan to pull my 38' Mobile Suites (GVWR - 18,000 lbs) several thousand miles this summer. Tried out the hitch for a few-mile ride. Everything worked great. Like the gray color. Love the fact that I did not have to install rails in my pickup bed for this hitch as it uses the gooseneck ball unit (not the ball itself) already installed in my bed.
