We have ceiling vents for evaporative cooler and wanted magnetic material to cover them. The magnetic material didn't stick to metal vents at all. We ended up getting industrial strength Velcro to apply to magnetic material. That worked out well. We tested the magnetic material on the side of our refrigerator and it stuck fine and was easily removed. I don't know how well the magnetic material would work on floor vents as we don't have any.
