Its so dificult to clean it!!
My family and I love to go to the Melting Pot but find it pricey. So the last time went I decided to check out purchasing my own. I chose this Oster Nastalgia Electric Fondue Pot. I got it next day shipping. Came packed well in another box. Easy to open and use. Here are some highlights that you may find important. 1. The pot was VERY easy to clean. Example: I was a little lazy after the first time using it so it sat overnight. The next day I just put hot water and some dishsoap in and let it sit a bit. It washed right up! (was using Chocolate and Caramel) 2. The cord is (very) short (and against manufacturer's recommendation) I used an extension cord and placed the pot on the table. And as expected no problems at all. 3. Yes, it has a magnetic cord. The main dial plugs into the base of the pot, this is very sturdy and connects nice and tight. The actual cord is "a break away magnetic" adapter. It works well and is a great safety feature if the cord gets caught it will disconnect and not pull a full hot pot of anything onto your child! 4. Yes, the Melting Pot Flaming Turtle chocolate fondue tastes the same in this pot as it does at the restaurant. I just google it and it was amazing! 5. This is a LARGE pot holding 3 quarats (6 cups). That is a lot and great for families and gatherings. It is a bit large for 2 (but we use it anyway) 6. Leftover chocolate: since the pot is large, we didn't use it all so I put it in the fridge and microwaved it the next day at work (20 sec at a time). It was great as a leftover! 7. There is a light on the dial "that lights up". If if is not light up, it is not working/heating (just stating this because I tried to buy a used one on Ebay and it wasn't working. 8. The pot gets hot FAST! Faster than I expected, this was great. We did stir frequently. 9. I used the "warming" setting for the chocolate and it was just the right temp. Hope this helps in your decision. As with any item, take gentle care of this item and it will last.
This fondue pot has a great price point...actually I wasn't thinking this wouldn't be much of a fondue pot, but I was in need to get one and not pay a ton. This thing gets super hot...will boil broth almost as fast as on the stove when it is on high! And it keeps it hot. Obviously if you try to overload this with food, the temp will come down and take some time to bring back up to boil...but that is what it is like with any pot! My only complaint is the short cord...I have to bring an extension cord anytime I use it...which is a pain, but it can't be all good :-)
I bought this as a gift for my oldest daughter and her husband. It arrived 2 days earlier than expected, which was nice. It is really good quality, built to last. They tell me it is exactly what they were looking for. Very happy with it.

It was alot easier to use than what I expected and it came with recipe ideas. I like using it for an impromptu date night in. The only reason why I didn't give it a 5 star was because it takes time for it to heat up.
This works as promised, but it's actually pretty hard to clean after.

I ordered this fondue pot for our condo kitchen because I like to serve cheese fondue for an easy dinner option. I use a premixed fondue that is nearly identical to the ones I’ve eaten in Germany including the white wine! I just cut the foil bag open and slide the cheese into the pot which I set on #4 heat indicator. By the time I’ve made up our salad and cut the french baguette the cheese is melted. I set the heat to #2 and we have dinner! So simple. I used the pot today to melt the chocolate for my freshly made biscotti. Worked like a charm! I did have to used a small spatula ( think large butter knife) to spread the chocolate on the bottom of each biscotti since mine are too long to dip in the pan. I had no scorching issues or boiling water from a double boiler to deal with when I was finished. I seat the heat at #3 to melt and turned it down to #2 for spreading.
