I simply removed the old malfunctioning cord style sending unit in my boat and replaced it with this new style sending unit. There is only 5 screws to remove but new unit must be orientated exactly to the old unit. Match the new gasket with the new unit before trying to install it. If you find that the holes don't line up rotate the new unit until they do. The process is relatively easy if you have clear access to the old unit. The new sending unit easy to install and was well worth the price.
