For a product that has been out for a few years, I thought that the Packtalk would be a more fully baked product. Here are a few issues that caused my friend and me to return the two-pack we had ordered and eventually switch to the Sena 50S. It's a little strange writing this review because most of the research out there has people recommending the Cardo over the Sena. Although the speaker/audio quality for the Cardo was really good, the boom mic in particular was super low during phone conversations. To the point that the person on the line struggled to hear me even when I was testing it in the living room. I'm aware of the arrow on the mic and proper mouth placement since it is directional, but nothing seemed to work with either of our phones (me with latest Andriod and him with latest iOS). There is a stick-on non-directional mic in the package, but it won't work with my flip-up helmet. App implementation was really bad. On both iOS and Android, the app would constantly tell us that the Cardo was not connected. You could literally be using the device (music via Bluetooth in your helmet) and Cardo's own app would say that the device was not connected (latest app and device firmware were installed). Having a phone call in progress on my phone, and then turning on the Cardo only sometimes caused the call to transfer to the Cardo. That was really annoying, especially since the Cardo was successfully paired to my phone. Music control was awful. The Cardo app seems to basically support its own player and Spotify. If you use some other app (in my case, Amazon music), you have to fire it up separately. After that, you can supposedly say "Hey Cardo" to pause, play, etc, but it almost never worked. The Cardo commands could not tell the OS to simply play, skip, etc. The workaround is to just use OK Google or Hey Siri. Maybe it's just me, but the button design on the unit itself is very non-intuitive with gloves on. Apart from the volume control, there are 3 buttons on the device to control different functions. There are raised nubs that help you feel the buttons. However, to find the correct button, I had to first locate all 3. Once my hand felt where they were, relative to each other, I would know which button to press. Again, this could just be me, but I prefer larger, non-ambiguous buttons to control the device. The Cardo does have a lot of pluses, but the above, especially the microphone and app issues at THIS price point SHOULD NOT be an issue for a device that has been out for years. We just started using the Sena 50S. Their app is miles ahead of Cardo's, and allows for very good control of audio/VOX sensitivity and a host of other settings. Voice control is pretty good and the build quality of the unit and everything that comes in the package seem to be good so far. Bear in mind that the Sena is much newer than the Cardo, and will probably continue to benefit from firmware updates for longer.

Multiple button configurations during programming takes a bit of time to figure out. Once programmed, they work exceptionally well while riding. Have not used the voice recognition, as there is not a need for it right now. That will be the next task to complete, especially for long rides. Installed on my modular helmet with no problems.
On my first ride with two Packtalk Bolds my passenger and I were connected and communicating well. About 30 minutes later she could hear me but I couldn't hear her. It was very disappoint. I have a service call into Cardo now. Both unit's firmware was updated and the mic wires were checked.
Honestly when I’m going above 60-80 mph I can hardly even hear my music. A $100 pair of beats headphone work better than this and have better noise cancellation. Yeah I like the cardo set because they have good battery life.
It's too expensive and the performance doesn't worth the price. I mean, is right and sounds good, but has a LOT of interference (seems to be wind or something) while riding and trying to talk with someone at my back in the same motorcycle. Maybe becasue are open helmets, but ...
Sure, I used to believe it... the open road, the sound of the wind, the freedom of riding. That's great if you are riding by yourself... sometimes. When riding to others, relying on hand signals (that were not agreed upon before the ride started) is difficult to say the least, and its not helpful when you are the last bike in the group, breakdown and no one notices till an hour or so later that we are not with the group. Bought the dual pack - one for me, one for my riding buddy - and what a difference riding has become. As soon as we turned the units on we were able to connect and talk to one another. It has been so easy to discuss while we are riding if we want to change route, discuss stopping to rest somewhere, or if an issue on one of our bike has come up while riding. Also has allowed us to warn each other on issues encountered while riding. Even when riding solo, you can use the bluetooth capability to connect to your phone and play music. I thing is nice you can listen to you road trip playlist while on the road.

Before I purchased this unit I watched Cardo's official tutorial on youtube and made sure that this unit was able to work with 2 phones. It sort of does but when a notification comes in on my work phone my music goes to full volume and is quite deafening. The only workaround I can get out of cardo after 2 weeks of back and forth is that I need to turn the volume down on my work phone every time I hook it up and back up when I am done riding. I am very dissapointed with this unit.
Unless you're an Sq snob, you'll be happy. Had to do a major cut at 4k hz with an eq app to keep them from being shrill at higher volumes. Battery life is great. Not tested on calls or two way. The seperate Cardo app is useless.
