I have a light brown hair and have paid a lot of money for professional highlights over the years. When my darker roots had come in a full 2 inches, I decided to touch my hair up myself. I didn't use the cap. I just mixed a teaspoon of powder with 2 teaspoons of developer and pulled up very small strands of hair around my faced and coated them. I used a latex glove that I had. (it is better than the ones in the box). I watched the clock carefully so I would not leave it on longer than 10 minutes. The results were a lovely natural golden color. I would work over several days in 10 minute increments, just highlighting small strands here and there and mixing only a few teaspoons of color each time. It worked out exactly as I had hoped.. It looked very natural. Some days I leave my highlights a whole 15 minutes, and then the results are a brighter blond. That looks great too when mixed in with the golden blond. The high and low lights are exactly the same color my hairdresser had given me in the past. But I saved myself $150.00. .
One word. AMAZING! I used the cap with the smaller hook and every other hole. Couldn't be happier. The kit includes shampoo and conditioner. The gloves are not the best, but they work. I'll be using this one again!
This is the best highlighting kit ever. The first time I used it, I did it for my mom and she did mine. It is slightly easier when you know someone willing to pull your hair through the holes. But I did it last night on my own and it turned out perfect. I did it while watching Netflix...started with the back. It's impossible to get EVERY hole in the back without a mirror, but you can usually find almost all the holes by touch or trial and error, especially since the holes are in straight lines and about the same distance apart...just make sure to rest your arms. Then I used a mirror for the sides and top. I pull VERY thick pieces of hair through to achieve mostly blonde hair, and since my hair is dark blonde it lightens in 30 minutes. The cap and hook is fool-proof...none of the bleach can get on your other hair, and it's a surprise every time...just because you pull a strand out from a certain spot, doesn't mean that huge thick piece lays in your hair that same way when you style. I love the chunky randomization and when you get smart enough you learn which direction to pull your hair from depending on where you want your highlights to lay. Just make sure you place the cap where there are plenty of holes against your part if you want your highlights to be flush with the part of your hair. Also this kit is 5 dollars cheaper at Wal-Mart than CVS. Flawless product, gorgeous shimmering pure platinum highlights!
