Hoist was not working at all when removed from the box.... I called the company twice (2) and left messages and it has been 24 + hours and no one has bothered to return my call.... The reviews I read sounded good so instead of getting a refund I decided to swap for another.... The thing that irritates me is the fact that the company would not return my call........... Received the replacement today,it works as intended... hopefully it will serve my purpose..... Wish Torin would get their act together and do what they say ....GIVE CUSTOMER SERVICE....not going to do a product review because I haven't used it yet and haven't a clue how well it will work

The ratchet did not engage in any position. I requested a return and at this point in time it seems unlikely I will be refunded my money. To replace it I ordered another and...........the ratchet did not engage in any position. At this point in time I have received refunds of monies paid for the two faulty items and they told me to keep the last faulty item I received. So they have dealt fairly with me although the product may still not be all that reliable. The ratchet failed to engage no matter which position was chosen, up or down. I later found that the outer ratchet needed to be forced into the position to lift or lower. I'm unsure how long it will continue to function that way. This manipulation of the selector lever needs to be made evident to the purchaser.

Works exactly as advertised. No frills, but I only use it occasionally so that's no biggie. I did have a bit of trouble reversing (pulling on the lowering chain) under heavy load, but discovered that it just takes a more forceful pull. Once it starts going it's juts as smooth as raising. Hey, you get what you pay for - and it works just fine. I would buy this again.
Using it to raise the mast on my sailboat. Rope is a bit too stiff, but it works for my application.
