The disk drive may work (it opens) but you must download software VLC Player and Nero Burner that are about impossible to access and configure (trying to sell you stuff from both sites. True headache and I opted to return the device immediately.

Set up was reasonably straightforward. The instructions may be perfect in other languages, but the English version was not fluent. But it conveyed the gist of what to do. To date, I have only used it to play DVDs after downloading the VCL media player software, but presume the other functions work as advertised. I didn't need it, but the external power cord to use if the USB supplies insufficient power to the drive is just that -- a cord. The picture suggests the adapter is included.

I was also wanting a USB 3 input for speed. I settled on the ROOFULL USB 3.0 & USB-C External CD DVD Drive for the all the reasons I was looking for in a portable Drive. Compact, not much bigger than a drive in a computer. Very well rated, 4.6 out of 5/0. Works with whatever disk I put in it. But the real gravy was it is also USB C capable. The connected dive cable fits in a slot under the drive and it end in a split dongle. So it fits both USB 3.o and USB C. My new laptop has both and this way it will not be a dated product in a few years. Also as a bonus it comes with a great padded carrying case. I was going to keep in in a pocked in my shoulder bag but was concerned about banging it up from setting it on the floor on in the car. This case is as padded as the computer case. So one less worry.
