I bought these for outdoor Halloween decorations as they touted they are water resistant. You can see from the photo that they are not. I put them out as soon as I received them, two days after that it rained. I wasn’t really worried because they said in the description that they were water resistant. Boy was I wrong. I noticed that the leds were solid red and blinking in a weird pattern. I grabbed the remote and tried to change the color but nothing happened. I then looked at the battery/controller housing and saw the rust. I was extremely disappointed.

At first I loved this product, the colors were great. Then after just 10 minutes of use it would just stop working or start flashing VERY fast and make a ringing sound. The remote control also stopped working right away and had to remove batteries to make it stop. Sad because I really liked them!

They’re easy to work with, are festive, and the remote control is nice. Each 20’ strand has a control box that requires 3, AA batteries. Like some other buyers’ reviews, we were quite pleased — for about 2 days, then they stopped working. We used (new) Energizer and Duracell batteries, so after only 2 days (of non-continuous use), we never thought it could be the batteries, but rather that the units (boxes/ lights) were faulty. (We’re currently using 160’, which is 8 boxes, 24 AA batteries.) In short, the units do work, but it appears they quickly drain even the top-rated batteries. So, in our experience, we know that we’ll be going through a lot of AA batteries if we want to enjoy these lights.
