The peppercorns gave off an amazing smell as I toasted them and then ground them up. They looked fresh and colorful. From what I have read Szechuan peppercorns don't have much flavor - their primary use is to numb your tongue - and thereby alter your perception of taste. And these did that very well. So these are exactly what I was looking for.

I normally purchase another brand of Szechuan peppercorns, but decided to try this brand based on the positive reviews. Unfortunately, I found nothing premium about these. The taste of these peppercorns were off, and the amount of debris contained within the package was unacceptable. After 2 contacts with the seller, I did receive a refund. I would not recommend.

You know Szechan peppercorns are fresh because when properly roasted and ground they cause a tingling, numbing sensation on your lips. I made some chili crisp with these, and my mouth felt like there was a snowstorm blowing on my lips. I've never had Szechan peppercorns that fresh. A week later in the jar, sometimes I still get a sliver of peppercorn on my lip and get some numbness. It's delicious and wonderful. Get these now. For the uninitiated. Szechan peppercorns do a few things in recipes. They add a sort of perfumy spice which is characteristic of Szechan cooking. They also numb the lips creating a unique effect when consuming spicy dishes, where you know your mouth should be on fire from the chilis and yet your mouth is strangely numb from the Szechan peppercorns. It's a very intoxicating mix when done properly. Absolutely worth experiencing. An incredibly fresh product, vacuum-sealed so it reaches you intact. Recommended.

It's not bad, but the quality it's far from "Premium". The color is too dark, which means not that fresh The variety is also not high-class one, which can be told by its shell. It's too small. Flavor is also not strong enough, you need to add a lot to get the tingly numbness, but when you add too much, it comes with bitter flavor, which no one wants.
