A great masher and easy to clean.
This is a very nice quality metal potato masher with a substantial, sturdy handle. I've been using a nylon masher for awhile and I'm not a fan...the potatoes stick too easily and it takes a lot of force and work to mash (it is light and has a small footprint). This one is like an updated version of the one my mom used to use... it's large, heavy, and mashes much more quickly, but it has a pretty handle in a contemporary color that matches the other tools I have in the same color perfectly. The potatoes don't stick as easily to the metal as they did the nylon; I give it a quick squirt of nonstick spray (like Pam) before mashing and have very little sticking. Most tools evolve positively with time, but sometimes the original, old-fashioned version is the best. This is one of those cases. This is a great quality tool, and I'm throwing my nylon one away.
I am usually a big fan of OXO, and this gadget does turn out decent mashed potatoes and guacamole, but it is hard to clean unless you IMMEDIATELY put it in water to soak after you use it. The bars are too high and too close together, and if it does not soak, the potatoes or avocados will make a crusty hard film that is really hard to get off - even a spin in the dishwasher doesn't really help. It's also really bulky - if I could do it again, I would choose a different potato masher.

This works great for shredding meat cooked in a crock pot. I don't use it for potatoes very often, but I do know that works well also. Not as well as egg beaters, but it does the job. This purchase is actually the second one of these, I needed one for my fifth wheel!

This plastic tool flexed too much to easily tackle potatoes that aren't already cut up or overcooked. I was able to get it to work, and avoided Thanksgiving dinner disaster, but it was an unpleasant surprise. Do not recommend. Get something metal.
I love using this. For different purposes for it's original intention. mashed potatoes, also avacados and butternut squash and egg salad. It works good is comfortable to grip . ergonomically friendly . pretty color. made by great well known kitchen appliance company kitchen aid . It works out and is doing the job it should without any issues. i sometimes pre mash and then put my potatoes mix in another kitchenaid workhorse their mixer and whip them. nothing like homemade mashed potatoes. when time allows anyhow.
