Gave this a couple months of use before reviewing it! My boyfriend is a cook and we were recently watching the Chef’s Table on Enrique Olvera when he could not stop mentioning how much he wanted to try to make homemade tortillas. As soon as we finished the episode, I hopped on Amazon to order him this press as an early Christmas gift. He loves it! Not only is it super easy to use but we’ve used it pretty regularly since getting it (at least once a week) and haven’t had a single issue yet. If you’re thinking about it, get it. You’ll ask yourself why you ever bothered using store bought tortillas in the first place.
A rolling pin is required to get the tortillas thin enough. Might as well just use the rolling pin....
After weeks of research and hundreds of reviews, I bought the Imusa Victoria 6.5 cast iron tortilla press. I used Maseca and followed Imusa instructions precisely. I was also extremely cautious in pressing, due to reports of hands being cut when the handle broke. The first three tortillas were thin and beautiful. On the fourth tortilla, my press broke. The handle didn't break; the base of the press snapped off. I was disappointed but not surprised. At least Amazon is great about refunds.
Once you figure out how to press it all the way & be sure to use plastic or parchment paper... you'll have this baby for the rest of your life!
The product, weight, build are great but it just didn’t work for us. We tried wheat, corn etc but it’s not as easy as it made us believe it will be using this. We returned it.
After all the glowing reviews, I was not expecting it to be so wobbly and I was especially not expecting the handle to be held together with a metal pin. Cut myself immediately and now matter which way I direct the pin, it always shifts back into a position to cut me again because of how wobbly the whole thing is. It is weighty overall but fells like it could still break at any minute. However, it did do what I needed it to do which was make small corn tortillas. I just wish I had not sliced up my hand in the process.

We have used this a dozen times or so and so far we haven't had any issues. It is heavy and I can see how you can have issues with handle breaking if you press down too hard.
It's hard to make the tortillas as thin as I like them. I have to drop the lid not the dough. Otherwise they are a little thick
I’ve made several batches of corn tortillas using this press and it works perfectly. Definitely recommend.
It work good for me, I was able to make dough for empanadas with no problem at all and a few tortillas for tacos. work well.
