I received the package three days after ordering it. The original part was rusted due to the fact that I live nearby the sea. It did not recognized the keys because of that. I identified the problem because even my brand new spear key did not work anymore. As soon as I plugged the new one and turn the key, my outlander started immediately. Remember that the dess key are programmed in the vehicle's computer, so your keys should function directly if you change this part. This one has three positions and is much better than the one I had before which only had two.

I removed two Torx screws and popped a couple of plastic trim rivets with this tool. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0734VKNYK/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I installed the ignition switch - it's plug and play. Could not be easier. I put the trim back on, installed Torx screws and replaced the trim rivets with these - perfect fit.
