Product is used to filter output of water distiller, meaning we will be drinking it. The filters did come on time and was the correct quantity. However, the plastic bag containing the 36 filters had been opened on one end of the top of the bag where the quick open/close strip is located. Meaning there was a possibility of product contamination. I opened the plastic bag and counted the filters and inspected each one of the 36 filters. I could find no open filters (they are sealed and are not normally opened) nor could I find any discoloration indicating any kind of liquid was applied to any of the filters, also no indication of any substance on any of the filters. However, to send food items in opened containers is UNSAT. I will not be buying this brand again.

Water goes in clear and comes out cloudy. Customer service was good and even sent replacement. Still having same problems. Probably gonna give up on my 10 year old Berkey. My old filters worked great. Their default answer is to reset the filter by drying out for 3-5 days, and re-prime. This hasn't worked.
good but the shape needs to be updated. one thing I never see anyone talk about is the height of the filters. seriously, the top 50% of the filters do VERY LITTLE in water purification and the bottom 50% do much more. And then, the bottom 25% do almost all of the filtering. What does this mean? It means that the bottom of the filter, where the water passes through 100% of the time gets dirtier much faster than the top section where the water only passes through maybe 15-30% of the time. Who really fills it all the way to the top, each and every time? Here is my redesign idea. Change the filter to a donut shaped filter and they can come in 2 sizes. 1 - the thinner of the filters (lets say 2 inches or so thick) has TWO posts dropping down into the lower canister, giving the same amount of water flow as two filters now and 2 - a thicker version of the same filter (lets say 3-4 inches thick) with FOUR posts dropping down into the lower canister giving the flow of four current filters. (the chlorine filters would still hook up the same way) This way if you filled the upper container up, even only 1/2 way, the ENTIRE filter would be under the water level and would be filtering the water (as opposed to now where only half of the filter would be being used) MUCH BETTER DESIGN IDEA IN MY OPINION. to thank me, you can send me 10 pack of filters for my trouble!!!!

My Mom and I love our Berkey water filters. When It was time to replace the fluoride filters I ordered one for mine system and one for my Mom. My filters primed with no problem and the water taste great. I have tried to primemy moms filters 3 times but they don't bead at all and we've changed the water but it still taste like funny. Not sure if the black filters are the problem or we need to replace the white ceramic filters but there only a year old.

Update #2 March 2022 - The second set of Berkey filters bought from DistrictSale seller through Amazon also were fakes. They both failed the red dye test by a LOT after about 1000 gallons. I've yet to get Berkey filters that work more than a little while. I'm done with Berkey. Don't even both calling the Berkey company, they don't care and won't honor anything from Amazon. _________________________ UPDATE - 4 months later and noticed these filters leave particles in water and water never tasted right, I did a red dye test and they both failed. One was very pink water and the other a slight tinge. Thankfully the great customer service at Amazon refunded for my return. I'm happy with Amazon but not with the company that sold these fake or bad filters through Amazon - Clean Air Supply was their name and they are an authorized dealer I later found out today, so I don't understand how they are sending filters that don't feel or filter like a real Berkey filter?? I'm taking a chance with another authorized dealer seller on Amazon and will keep this review updated in the future! __________________________ At first when I got these filters I thought for sure they were fakes because water literally poured out of them like a stream. However, after doing the red dye test, they came out crystal clear passing the test. I guess they're made to filter faster now? I'm happy they do filter fast but still a fear that maybe they aren't authentic. Our last filters which came with our Berkey, lasted 4 years, so I'm expecting the same from these. Those filtered with a fast drop, nothing like the stream from the new ones. I'll keep this review updated in the event the filters were to fail.

The filters are still in the box in which they were shipped, as they are not ready to be used. We've had a Berkey Water Unit for three or four years and these filters as well as the unit, work fine. The five star rating is for years we have been using these filters.
