Exactly what I needed! My bf and I eat a lot of brown rice, basmati rice, quinoa and lentils. This is perfect for rinsing everything! Be forewarned though, if you do use it to rinse quinoa, you’re going to lose some through the bottom and when taking it out of the bowl, pour out of a side that doesn’t have the slits in it or your quinoa will go down the drain! All in all, this is a product I recommend to anyone who eats a lot of grains and it’s a must have in the kitchen. I also rinse fruit in it too and anything else I need to rinse. It’s a great size and can fit under almost any sink.

I thought this strainer might be slightly unnecessary, but after using it for over a year, I couldn't disagree more. It's great for straining rice, but also for straining small fruits like blueberries or raspberries, as well. My rice is much fluffier when I rinse it prior to cooking. I've only hand washed it because I wasn't sure if it would warp in the dishwasher, but I have used it to strain pasta in hot water and it didn't warp or damage it in any way. I haven't had any issues with grains of rice getting stuck in the strainer, as other reviewers have mentioned. Great (cheap!) addition to my kitchen!

I LOVE this and use it as a colander to rinse vegetables as well. It nests nicely in my salad spinner, too. I've had it for over a year and my husband has even used it to strain noodles a couple of times and it has come out unscathed. I can't imagine ever rinsing rice without it and I only make rice once every other week or so. If anything happens to it, I will replace it immediately!!!!!

Not sure what type of rice people are trying to wash in this that they're getting so much stuck in it and rating it badly. It works perfectly fine for Japanese rice, and is much better than trying to wash and drain it in a bowl or pot.
