If you own a wood plane you need this.
Don't know what all those people are complaining about. This thing rocks. Tried it with a diamond plate on a really old chisel that hasn't been sharp since 1970, and it got a whole new life. First time sharpening anything too. Might buy a couple more.
I like this honing guide because it makes it easier to hone my wood chisels to get them very sharp. Can't go to the hardware store and pick one up. Great job on the fast service on ordering and shipment.

This thing needs quite a bit of hand filing to get contact surfaces flat and square so a wider chisel or plane iron will clamp flat. Once you achieve that, it's a nice little jig if you're not confident with freehand honing.

can't want to use it on all my garden tools
The guide is pretty straight forward, and it works well with chisels and plane blades. The seller included instructions via package AND email to make sure that the guide is used properly per item being sharpened since the placement in the guide matters depending on what style of tool is being honed. I've used it both on stones and sand paper and it performed flawlessly for my needs.
This is small and easy to use. Great for shears and loppers. Extends the useful life of your products.

Bought this hoping it would be a value product to get the simple task of sharpening a hand plane blade. It does it...kinda. The “saddle” that the blade sits in is flat until one tightens the clamp, then one side will rise up and leave your blade cocked in the saddle. This is due to the tolerances of the tightening bolt to saddle casting. I’ll have to toss it and spend much more money for something built to necessary tolerances to hold the blade flat. No biggy, live and learn.

This little tool will sharpen the most difficult of blades. The carbide edge is strong and sharpens garden tools like axes, clippers and other items you wish were sharp when you picked them up to use. As advertised, just a few strokes are all it takes. It is important to spend a little time learning how to angle the edge of the tool correctly over the blade, or your stroke may be ineffective. Once that is accomplished, you will want to try it on everything. My wife now has a whole slew of sharpened pruners, cutters, loppers etc.
