On high, the peppers took only 2 1/2 hours. Love it! The lid doesn't have a tight fit, but I think that is for safety reasons. I just pull up the slow cooker liner over the edges. It works great! It takes a while to come up to simmer, but once it does, it cooks great! You can get the small liners on Amazon, for 1 to 3 qt slow cookers. Easy clean up...just wash the lid!

I live alone and this small unit ideal for preparing smaller portions! Cheap, small, and very efficient! I would buy it as a gift for my bachelor friends! The only negative thing that I've encountered with this unit is the "On" and "Off" painted on the side is very difficult to read! A lighter colored unit would probably be much easier! Recommend that you purchase a white, or at least a lighter color. Mine is dark red!

SECOND REVIEW PLEASE READ I got my crock pot and it worked great! I found out I had to get an exchange because it did NOT have a light. It suppose to have a little light that turns on when you have the crock pot on high low and warm if it doesn't then RETURN it. These are defective crackpots. In my mind I think Amazon sells these defective and most of these are. My mother bought one and her lid was way too small. Pretty suspicious right! Now since I found the defect issue in these that Amazon sells a lot of people are complaining of different issues. YES it cooks well that I'm impressed but with no cooking light on it I was surprised mine didn't have it and now my exchange had that light. Thankfully. What I'm using it for it's worth it just for warming up certain things and side dishes that is all I use it for. So if yours doesn't have a little round cooking light on it then Return it or exchange because it's defective. I want a light on it that shows I have the crock pot on for safety reasons. If it doesn't then it's a unsafe product in my opinion!

Seems like it has one temp HIGH...HOT. the temp control choices are different then I ever seen, but definitely a choice of low and simmer. I cooked on high, then simmer for a few hours. my stuff was still boiling! Love the lid, it flips up and stays on the pot. Comes off for cleaning.
